Green Sun Shades, commonly referred to as Shade Nets or Tarpaal (in local terminology), are high-density polyethylene (HDPE) knitted fabrics designed to provide relief from intense sunlight and heat. These are essential for maintaining cooler temperatures in outdoor areas, protecting plants, and creating private spaces.
1. Shading Percentages & Uses
The “Percentage” refers to how much sunlight the net blocks. Choosing the right one is critical for the specific application:
50% – 60% Shade: Ideal for general agriculture and hardy plants (tomatoes, cucumbers). It provides a balance of sunlight and protection.
75% – 80% Shade: The most common choice for residential rooftops, car parking, and garden sitting areas. It significantly reduces heat while allowing air to circulate.
90% – 95% Shade: Used for maximum privacy and extreme heat protection. Best for balconies, construction site enclosures, and livestock sheds.
2. Key Technical Features
Material: Made from 100% Virgin HDPE with UV Stabilizers to prevent the net from becoming brittle or cracking under the harsh sun.
Construction: Most high-quality shades are Knitted (not woven), which prevents the fabric from unravelling if it gets a small tear or cut.
Durability: Water-permeable (rain passes through, so water doesn’t pool) and resistant to mold and mildew.
Edge Finishing: Professional “Ready-to-Hang” versions come with:
Cotton Nawar (Tape) Borders: Double-stitched edges for extra strength.
Eyelets/Rings: Brass or steel rings every 2–3 feet for easy tie-down with ropes.
3. Common Applications
Agriculture & Nurseries: Protecting delicate saplings and greenhouses from “sunburn.”
Residential Cooling: Installed over rooftops or windows to lower indoor temperatures during peak summer months.
Car Parking: Creating a temporary “garage” to protect vehicle paint and keep interiors cool.
Construction Safety: Used as “Scaffolding Net” to prevent dust and debris from falling while providing shade for workers.
Animal Husbandry: Shading for dairy farms or poultry sheds to reduce heat stress in animals.
4. Popular Sizes (Ready-made)
10 ft x 13 ft
13 ft x 20 ft
20 ft x 30 ft
(Custom sizes are often available where the fabric is cut from a large roll and stitched to order.)
